Ponytail Palm - Small Palm Tree

Ponytail like appearance, gives this palm tree it's name. They are very slow growing and low maintenance. Great for indoors as well outdoors. Salt water and chlorine resistant trunk, great for pools. Once they reach a mature height, they develop distinct characteristics, which makes each Ponytail palm different from the rest. Additional Ponytail heads can sprout from the original trunk, by making a slight cut on it's side when young, it will increase the chance of an extra head. Ponytails are sometimes referred to as Pom Poms, because of the shape of it's head in relation to actual pom poms. The Ponytail is truly unique with it's bottom trunk, referred to as an elephant foot. These palm trees, along with lipstick palm trees are a favorite among the female population.
